Nazarean Church of Mount Carmel
Ten
Steps
The following ten steps are necessary for a proper beginning on the
"Nazarean Way" of Yeshua. This "Nazarean Way" is both a culture and a
life-style, and represents a radical break from mainstream western culture. For
those seeking to make this transition, a one to two year period is not
unreasonable. There are also many pitfalls associated with the implementation
of these ten steps, reliance on a spiritual guide (sponsor) is strongly
recommended.
- Step 1: Make the
transition to a Vegetarian Diet. (This
should be completed in less than a years time). The Angel of Death should be
avoided by ceasing to enter restaurants where meat is prepared or served. The
daily mina allowance, should be followed as much as possible, and gluttony
avoided.
- Step 2: Develop a
daily study program. Read through all Essene Nazarean Church literature
available on her web site. (The Sacred Scrolls should be
totally read in at least a years time, with other related works in the
Advanced Essene Studies being completed within a
two year time.) If there is any addiction to gossip, idle chatter, mass media
entertainment, these should be eliminated (this does not mean that one can
never watch a movie - just be selective of what you subject your mind to). One
may consider taking the Home
Study Course.
- Step 3: Create a
foundation of moral purity in your life, engaging in sexual activity only with
ones wedded mate. If there is any exposure to pornography, dishonest
relationships, or friendships that lead to improper activities, these should be
severed. Natural simple clothing should be purchased and worn.
- Step 4: Begin making
the transition from a ego centered life to a life of humble spiritual
surrender. Cease to honor and look up to worldly heroes promoted in the media,
or to those who control the flow of money. Instead, begin to show respect to
those who dispense spiritual values and truths, and to elders. Part of this
transition includes giving of more honor and prestige to symbols of spirit and
truth rather than status symbols of power and wealth. If one has an inflated
sense of self, one must learn to be humble, unassuming and beyond the need to
be right or liked. Beyond this, one should reform their identity on a
spiritual, rather than a material or social foundation.
- Step 5: Eliminate
violence, or its trappings, from one's life. This includes engaging in, or
viewing, violent television shows, hunting, fishing, trapping and other forms
of aggressive behavior. If there is any leaning toward receiving or giving
verbal or physical abuse, serious steps must be taken to totally remove these
tendencies from ones life. Avoid competitive sports where the goal is to "win
at all cost."
- Step 6: Consumerism
must be curtailed and a return to "simple abundance" should be cultivated. Part
of this weaning from a materialistic culture entails a tithe (10% of monthly
income) to the Essene Nazarean Church of your choice. An obsession with
shopping or owning material possessions, needs to be refocused on more natural
and spiritual ideals. Satisfaction, comfort and security is not afforded by
material things for those who fully walk the Nazarean Way.
- Step 7: Spiritual
disciplines must become a regular part of one's life. This includes the keeping
of a weekly Sabbath day and other such practices one may feel moved to
incorporate. One's home should become a spiritual sanctuary where one can spend
the Sabbath day in peaceful contemplation of eternal matters.
- Step 8: Yeshua and our Heavenly Parents should be honored with
a ten minute prayer and meditation each morning, preferably at sunrise.
- Step 9: Yeshua and our Heavenly Parents should be honored with
a ten minute prayer and meditation each evening, preferably at sundown or
before retiring.
- Step 10: Participation
in some Essene rituals should be worked toward.
